Abstract: GIS for watershed modeling needs various data including geospatial and hydrological time series. Recently, Hy GIS (Hydro Geographic Information System) was developed in Korea. Hy GIS can calculate geographic characteristics of watershed by analyzing DEM and construct framework data for watershed spatial database. Hy GIS is database system and it uses static and dynamic database. Static database is fixed data and its sources are provided by government covering South Korea. Static database format and its structure are adjusted to Hy GIS, and it can be applied conveniently to geospatial analysis and watershed modeling through Hy GIS. This study shows HyGIS static database and its application to watershed modeling by HyGIS-SWAT. DEM (Digital Elevation Model), land use map, soil map, weather stations, rainfall stations, and water level stations are imported from HyGIS static database, and applied to watershed modeling. Through this process, users can obtain easily static data which is the basis of watershed analysis, and apply it efficiently to hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling.
