Abstract: Paper presents innovative method for evaluating friction models the most commonly used in the water-hammer analysis. The method is based on comparison between calculated and measured pressure-time courses in which two following parameters are used: -Rate of pressure traces convergence, based on differences between areas limited by the curves representing pressure-time changes of two compared courses, -Logarithmic decrement, known from the theory of vibrations and called for purposes of this paper as the decrement of pressure wave damping. Basing on the results of own made experimental tests and utilizing the above mentioned parameters, quantitative evaluation of Zielke, Vardy and Brown, Zarzycki, Trikha and Brunone et al. models has been conducted. These models were taken into account in authors own computational method developed for numerical prediction of water-hammer courses.
