Abstract: A numerical model for sediment erosion and transport has been developed to study the influence of size distribution on threshold shear and transport. The model is based on the Discrete Element Method for the computation of the mo-vement of grains and a linearised boundary layer model (FLOWSTAR) for the fluid velocity field. The model has been used to compute the transport for monodisperse and dispersed sediment beds.
