Abstract: Recently, numerical simulations of water surface waves using the Navier-Stokes equation models have been increased since these models are much superior than the depth-averaged wave models. For the Navier-Stokes equations model, the internal wave maker using a mass source function has been employed to generate various types of waves. However, the method has been applied to two-dimensional numerical models and has not been expanded to three dimensions yet. In this study, the internal wave maker for the Navier-Stokes equations is employed to generate target waves in the three-dimensional numerical wave tank, NEWTANK. The model is first verified by applying to different numerical tests and comparing with available laboratory measurements in two dimensions, then solitary wave run-up and run-down around a conical island are simulated.
