Abstract: River basin cascade exploitation and leading reservoir construction change fish habitats of original reach, which makes different effects on growth, development, breeding, feeding, migration and overwintering for the fish. The discharge in the reach of Jinping Dahewan is reduced for constructing of Jinping Ⅱ waterpower station stage (Jinping Ⅱ). One of the rapid flow riffle habitat is selected as an analysis example in the reducing reach. Schizothorax is taken as target species. Habitat suitable Index (HSI) is researched and obtained. A two-dimensional physical habitat simulation of Insrteam Flow Incremental Methodology is used to simulate fish habitat. Finally, a quantitative relationship between Schizothorax weight useable area (WUA) and discharge is obtained. And the WUA distribution conditions with the changing of discharge are studied. Through the research results, some conclusions are obtained: the usable habitat will transfer from the middle channel to the both banks with the discharge increasing gradually. The growth of the WUA is rapid when the discharge is slow, and obviously slows down when the discharge is biggish, even changes little. And the growth will be negative when the discharge increases to big enough.
