Abstract: The spiral profile of wave-driven coastal current plays very important role in the balance of onshore-offshore sediment transport and then the evolution of coastline. However, the knowledge and the modelling of the complicated three-dimensional coastal currents are still limited. In the present study, a quasi three-dimensional numerical model of wave-driven currents is developed by taking a time average over a wave period on the basis of Navier-Stokes equations. It establishes the terms of the wave-induced radiation stresses varying over depth in the momentum equations. The depthdependent radiation stresses are calculated using water particle and wave pressure from the secondorder Stokes wave theory. The model capacity is examined by comparing the computational results with the laboratory measurements of vertical circulations. The modelled currents show a good agreement with experiments.
