Abstract: River restoration programs often use the vegetation mat to enhance the biological functionality, recreational opportunities, and aesthetic beauty of degraded stream corridors in Korea. The vegetation mat technique is an effective means of mitigating channel erosion in river bank revetments. Many studies are in progress to make stable designs that are advantageous for maintenance. It is necessary to develop a stable vegetation mat technique which will be effective in protecting river banks from scouring during flood. This study is performed in a multi-function river experiment station to evaluate the hydraulic stability through the prototype experiments. The vegetation mats are installed to measure the cover soil loss according to the various hydraulic conditions, such as the flow, the water depth, and the velocity.
