Abstract: Better understanding of nutrient dynamics and behaviour is essential to improve water quality. This paper presents results of field studies that aim to further understand the relationships between major ions, total nitrogen (TN) and phosphorus (TP) concentrations which are considered during the winter-spring period of 2010 for a 4.4 km2 catchment in the Lang Lang River basin, Australia. The results show a decreasing pattern in baseflow major ion concentrations over the period and with flow during events. At the seasonal scale, TN did not show a clear pattern and TP showed different patterns at sites. During events TN and TP concentrations varied differently between sites.
