Abstract: The objective of this study is to propose a methodology, which will enable an overall indicator for the evaluation, comparison and classification of the present irrigation systems within the context of their necessity to be included in relative rehabilitation or modernization programmes. On a country basis the suggested methodology can also allow the comparison of the proposed improvement programmes of irrigation systems, which are alternatives for the distribution of limited investment resources and their classification in terms of priority as far as their implementation is concerned.
