Abstract: In this paper we explore a potential of the quadrant method, originally developed for analysing temporal velocity fluctuations, to study structure of the form induced velocities and stresses in the near-wall region of an open channel flow with ribbed bar roughness. The obtained results relate to the assessment of contributions of the quadrant events to the forminduced stresses revealing new flow structures in the vicinity of the roughness elements.
