Abstract: Simultaneous measurements of three-dimensional velocity components and free surface elevations were carried out in the lagoon of Fogliano in order to investigate the statistical characteristics of the turbulence of the flow produced by wind and tide. Measurements were made in typical spring-summer environment conditions which is characterized by a gentle sea-breeze wind. Two measurements points far from the tide channel were chosen in the lagoon, in such a way to evidence the role of the wind in generating turbulence. The analysis of velocity data has proved: the presence of a significant oscillatory motion due to wind waves, which affects the entire water column and which interferes with the lagoon bottom; an evident degree of anisotropy between horizontal and vertical larger turbulent scales; the existence of a scaling range in which the relative scaling exponents, calculated using the Extended Self Similarity (ESS), have a scale-independent behavior.
