Abstract: Live-bed tests in a laboratory flume are run to investigate the effect of nonequilibrium conditions on the bed profile in case of steep slopes. General degradation is simulated in this way. Different bed sill configurations are tested as a countermeasure for degradation. It is demonstrated that the bed slope with sills is milder the one without sills. This fact implies that the bed sill system looses efficiency or even becomes inefficient as the sills are placed closer and closer. Detailed information on testing equipment, calibration, experimental program, time development, local scour, resistance to flow and sediment transport in a total number of 111 test are given.
