Abstract: A Geographical Information System (G. I. S.) was developed to facilitate the automated calculation and transfer of information to a hydraulic simulation model of a water supply network. Automated routines were developed for the calculation and assignment of nodal elevations and demands and also for model calibration purposes. The transfer of information takes place through the seamless interconnection of the G. I. S and the hydraulic modeling software. The G. I. S. application is being used in the “Study of the operation of the water supply networks in the Greater Athens area, Greece”, where it is proving to be a valuable tool in building a complicated hydraulic model of a water supply network.
