History of Hydraulics in Russia in the XVIII~(Th)Century

Abstract: An outline about the creation of Petersburg Imperial Academy of Sciences and the hydraulics as a science in the XVIII`th century is presented. The activities of D. Bernoulli (in 1725-33), Leonhard Euler (in 1727-1741 and 1766-1783), the first Russian academician Mikhail Lomonosov and some other scientists in Petersburg Academy of Sciences are also considered. The books on hydraulics published in Russia in the XVIII`th century, and teaching of hydraulics at this time are briefly reviewed.
