Abstract: During the bronze age, the Minoans in Crete (2100-1400 BC) developped sophisticated architecture with advanced control of urban hydraulics: aqueducts, drains, rainfall management. In continental Greece, the Mycenaeans (1600-1150 BC) used and adapted for their own palaces the Minoan techniques. They built also dams for reservoirs and river diversion, land drainage systems with polders, and harbours.
