Abstract: Bazin's weir research was the second of a large experimental campaign in which flow across a variety of weir structures received attention. With six papers published between 1888 and 1898 and a summary book, weir flow was thoroughly investigated. That paper would like to highlight the major findings of an outstanding research with a review of the results obtained, the instrumentation used, the specific site features described and the impact of Bazin's research findings acknowledged. It is less the formula currently no more in use but the hydraulic methodology employed and the detailed description of phenomena for which the experimenter Bazin added to modern standards. Also, comments expressed sixty years ago relating to the presently abandoned test site are taken up to propose adequate account by the city of Dijon, for example during the commemoration of Darcy's 200th centennial in 2003. This paper is the last of a series that intends to present outstanding experimental research in hydraulics shortly before the French predominance came to a stop because of World War I.
