Abstract: The mitigation of the sediment yield into reservoirs can be achieved by sediment source control. However, the variation of the sediment input in the upper part of the river network produces a significant variation of the sediment delivery to the reservoir after some time. An estimate of this response time as a function of some integral characteristic river parameters is obtained using a simplified river model with uniform sediments.
