Abstract: The analysis of small-scale HPS operation experience, constructed within 40-50th" years on mild slope rivers of Central Russia has been carried out. There have beer executed a scope of technical examination work of a number of small-scale HPSs Cardinal principles of designing and construction, as well as some conceptual positions, aimed on increasing of small-scale HPS competitiveness have been worked out. The results of small-scale HPS designing studies with advanced foreign technics and technologies usage are exemplified.
