Abstract: The operation and management of paddy irrigation system is characterized by reuse of irrigation return flow and drainage condition in low lying delta area. The water reuse mechanism is very effective for conserving irrigation water resources but it has severe impact on water quality. The purpose of the research is consisted of following three items: [a] Quantitative analyses on the reuse mechanism of irrigation return flow in delta area, [b]Investigation of water quality in the area, and [c] To draw conclusions on the relationship between the reuse of return flow and water quality. A complex tank model was proposed for analyzing the water balance, and for evaluating the content ratio of reuse water being included in irrigation water. Water quality measurements were carried for several indices such as Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Electric Conductivity (EC), Total Nitrogen (TN) and so on.
