Abstract: A methodology for the field calibration of open channels for use in computer simulations is presented. The methodology's objective is to guide the practitioner in the creation of computer simulation models of open channels such that both steady state and transient outcomes can be reliably modeled, given field data for steady state conditions only. The methodology was successfully applied to the Government Highline Canal located in Grand Junction, Colorado.
