Abstract: A series of experiments was carried out to back up a theoretical analysis of the flow pattern in combining manifolds for use in final settling tanks. It is shown that the theo-retical approach can predict the flow behaviour for a range of manifolds differing in diameter and slot spacing with sufficient accuracy. As a consequence criteria for a low cost design of such outflow systems can be expected.
