Abstract: Stream restoration sometimes calls for reconstruction of the channel in a stable configuration. Three approaches for stable channel design are outlined and contrasted using a hypothetical example. Radically different results are produced by different stable channel design approaches, particularly when working with mixed bed channels. All may produce valid results when applied appropriately.
