Abstract: Urban development can cause significant alterations to the dynamic equilibrium of natural drainage channels due to the intimate link between the flow pattern and the morphology of natural streams. The regime equations which were originally developed for irrigation canals in India, have been shown to be suitable for the design of natural channel systems. In this paper the channel properties of two stable creeks located within catchments with low urbanisation are compared with published regime relationships. The study has shown that these relationships are suitable for the prediction of stable channel properties for use in the design of remedial works.
