Abstract: "Simon Bolivar" University-USB-and the Foundation for the "Interconnection of Hydrographic Basins of the Orinoco, Amazonas and Rio de la Plata rivers"-ORIAMPLA-, explored and studied in the last 15 years more than 50,000 km of the South-American Great Rivers, with the aim to use them for the physical integration. A River Navigation System is feasible and, in order to realize it, the interested countries have organized adequate national and international authorities. Although the real benefits of this Navigation System are considered to be of reduced ecologic impact, actually in the involved areas, environmental damages are developing. This is due to the increasing inadequate human activities and the fragility to the existing ecosystems. Examples are presented, and a scheme for a solution of this problem is indicated.
