Abstract: This paper reports the latest findings of an extensive study to verify and refine an unsteady, three-dimensional, turbulent, free-surface flow and transport model, the CCHE3D, which has been under development at the Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering (CCHE) of the University of Mississippi for several years. Since most of the early studies have been reported in the literature, this paper is to focus on the refinement of its turbulence closures. But, the verification efforts are briefly summarized to give readers a proper perspective.
