Abstract: An environmentally friendly flood release methodology called "pulse releases" was developed for controlling water levels in Lake Okeechobee to benefit the estuarine receiving bodies and the Florida Everglades. This methodology was tested by the extended storm events in late 1994 and early 1995. A brief description of the methodology and an evaluation of the effectiveness of the method is presented.
