Abstract: This paper deals with the classification of sand waves in the lower flow regime. From the geometrical point of view, a new criterion is developed by using large number of field and experimental data collected by others under a wide range of variables. Moreover, by using the results of our theoretical study, a more fundamental relation is derived. The new developed method gave more accurate prediction than others.
