Abstract: In this paper we present simultaneous observations of salinity, velocity and Reynolds stress profiles (made using an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler-ADCP) as functions of time from a station in a geometrically simple channel in Northern San Francisco Bay. These data show how stratification and shear interact to produce intense pulses of gravitational circulation.
