Abstract: The paper presents the effects of the steepness of the sea bottom on wave induced long-period waves through a computational model. The model is compared with conventional models where depth variations are neglected based on the mild slope assumption. Since coastal reefs are one of the most common bottom formations with steep seaward slopes the long-period waves on steeply sloping flat reefs are presented and the effects of the bottom steepness is discussed.
