Abstract: The objective of this study is to use non-linear coupled model incorporated with grain sorting and armouring algorithm, NCMG to study some examples of sediment routing in the real river situations. Thus the field data from the East Fork river near Boulder Wyoming was selected for testing the applicability of the model for graded sediments. The sediment routing scheme is based on the physical processes, governing the mechanics of sediment movement in alluvial channels. A simplified sediment transport foemula (Eq. 4) is used in the model which takes into account different sediment size classes, this means that the flow-sediment equations (1-3) implicitly are applied to each sediment size class rather than to D50. The model has incorporated a grain sorting and armouring algorithm, which describes the armouring process as simple as possible, compatible with physical reality, and empirical calibration parameters are minimised. The model is intended for use in optimisation shemes, it is therefore simple, consonant with modelling the reality of the process.
