Abstract: Experiments were carried out on the dispersion of a cohesive sediment under steady flow conditions in a laboratory flume. The settling velocities of the fine sediments in flowing water were obtained by issuing the sediments into a steady uniform open channel flow and matching the measured sediment concentration profiles with the those obtained from a three dimensional mathematical approach incorporating the standard two-equation k-e turbulence model.
