Abstract: An open-channel flow over discontinuous boundaries is often observed in the downstream of sand waves on river bed and man-made hydraulic structures such as water gates, weirs and trenches. Especially, the trench is installed in river in order to control sediment transport. It is very important in hydraulic engineering to investigate the structures over the discontinuous boundaries, because the turbulence production and dissipation become larger due to the rapid changes of shear stress.
