Abstract: The wave-induced instability of permeable seabed is one of the important subjects in considering the design of offshore structures such as breakwaters, platforms, pipelines and anchors. In this paper, the problem of the wave-induced pore pressure and effective stresses in a viscoelastic seabed, especially, with mud and clay, has been solved by using the equations of mass conservation and force equilibrium of the sediment.
