Abstract: This paper describes a case study being performed on the river Agger in Germany a tributary of the river Rhine. It comprises a chain of small reservoirs. Their fine sediments are polluted to such an extent, that flushing them out implies a risk for the water quality. Numerical 2-D modelling of flow and sediment transport provides information about the risk of mobilisation. Possible consequences for the reservoir maintenance are outlined briefly.
