Explicit Formulae for Estimation of Normal Depth in Channels

Abstract: In open channel flow, computation of uniform flow depth often involves trial and error. Some explicit formulae for estimation of this depth for rectangular, trapezoidal and circular cross sections have been developed by using curvefitting methods. Comprison of the results show that the formulae estimate the normal depth with acceptable accuracy for practical works.
