A Summary for the River Ice Jam in China

Abstract: This paper describes the achievements in the ice jam investigation and research in some river stretches in China since 1960, including the upstream stretch of the Yellow River from Yanguoxia to Liujiaxia (1960-1 966), the Baishan reach of the second Songhuajiang River in Northeast of China, and some water transfer projects in the recent years. The ice jam name, definition, mechanism, development process and some key factors that influence the process, as well as the calculation methods etc. are also discussed in this paper.
