Abstract: This paper takes into consideration rather little-investigated in present time problem vertical migration of oil through the ice. This paper considers model of vertical oil migration in which solar radiation is a main factor affecting oil movement. The solar radiation penetrates into ice, increase temperature of oil droplet and lead to the melting of ice around the droplet. The droplet then rise in the creating channel. To investigate this phenomena thermo-physical balance of the oil droplet in surrounding ice has been considered. The principal result of calculation is that amount of solar radiation, ice optical properties, snow cover and initial temperature of oil have the most influence on the process of oil migration. Total time of migration can be the order of several days or several months depending on the ice properties.
