Abstract: According to the hydrologic and meteorological observations, the ice characteristics on the Ningxia-Inner Mongolia reach after the operation of the Liujiaxia reservoir are analyzed, evolution of ice grow and decay and factors affecting the ice regime are presented. A complete statistic model for ice forecast is set up based on the thennal balance, to provide for the winter operations of the Longyangxia and Liujiaxia reservoirs and the ice run prevention ofthe Upper YeUow River.
