Abstract: This paper follows up on an earlier one, entitled "A discussion on the type of damming Structure of the headwork", written by Mr. Xu, who drew a conclusion that the movable dam, or the so-called setting-up and lying-down dam, would be better than any traditional non-movable structure. The present authors herewith give a wide comparison of several movable dams nowadays constructed and then find the optimum one. From the viewpoint of water damming, flood overflowing and ice drifting, we provide a comparison between the floating dam, either with rigid slabs or with flexible ribs, the rubber folding dam and the rubber dam, and prove the superiority of rubber dam and the possibility to deal with the ice-drift problems.
