Abstract: A test program has been performed to investigate the behaviour of ice under conditions of low speed impact (2-6 m/s). The tests were performed by free-fall impact of an instrumented projectile onto the surface of a thick sheet of freshwater ice. The measured quantities include pressures and pressure distribution during the impact, the projectile deceleration and loads, and the acceleration of the ice cover itself. In this paper, a brief description of the test program is given and tabulated test results are presented.
