Abstract: A small scale test program was carried out at Arctec Canada Laboratories in Kanata to simulate ice and iceberg sea bottom scouring and to obtain an experimental database. The test considered the simulation of two model scales, two model shapes and three types of soils. The test consisted of moving the model at three velocities and three cut depths, and simultaneously measuring the forces and pressures on the model and the pressures in the soil. The study was carried out for the Arctic Petroleum Operator's Association, Project 150, and reported by Abdelnour and Lapp (1980). The details of the test procedures, the model construction and test instrumentation and data acquisition were reported by Abdelnour et al (1981). This paper presents the measured forces, their analysis and comparison with previous similar studies.
