Abstract: A review of presented calculation methods in open literature for ice loads against offshore structures due to laterally moving first or multi-year ridqes is made. Structures are divided into three categories: narrow vertical, conical and wide, with each having different ice structure interaction mechanisms. Physical reasoning as the starting point for ice force equations are given, different methods are explained and compared with each other and their applicability is demonstrated with application examples.
