Abstract: Investigations were made on the testing methods for uniaxial compressive strength, flexural strength and tensile strength and on the mechanical properties of sea ice from practical point of view. For testing methods, the size and the shape of specimen, stress rate and strain rate were decided. Three kinds of ultimate strength mentioned above were obtained with the most suitable testing methods. Finally, the relations among uniaxial compressive strength, flexural strength and tensile strength were obtained and the relations were compared with the case of concrete.
