Abstract: Problems are considered pertaining to the winter operation of hydromechanical equipment of hydroelectric power plants. Emphasis is placed on heating which appears to be the most effective means of combatting ice problems. A description is presented of induction-heating, a most advanced heating technique. Studies of winter operation experience allowed the formulation of the general principles for the proper design of those heating systems.
