Abstract: Considered is the effect on the ice cover strength of variations in hydrometeorological characteristics in the spring. Solar radiation is shown to play a predominant role in the reduction of ice strength. A relationship is presented for the practical control of the decrease in ice strength obtained during bending tests on cantilever specimens.
