Abstract: The objective of this study is to determine the outflow hydrographs corresponding to various return periods from a series of measured annual peak flows, and to validate a rainfall-runoff model using the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) method and the HEC-HMS software to understand more reliably the runoff within the watershed of interest. Although this method is widely used, it is susceptible to improvement when the watershed is provided with hydrometric information that allows calibration. In this case, it was possible to validate the precipitation series that has a better correlation to the response of the basin when there is precipitation so that it can be established for future work, in addition to finding a more realistic runoff number N for the conditions of the study basin, to obtain better results for future studies that require such information. Finally, the importance of counting gauged basins can be translated into how reliable the studies are related to runoff in them, since they help to validate and calibrate mathematical models that are of high importance for decision making when carrying out the water management of a basin.
