Abstract: Lands1ide dam is a natural dam formed when the mountain on both sides ofthe valley slides along the weak structural plane under the action of earthquake or rainfall, and relaxes and disintegrates in the process of sliding. The flood caused by the break of the dam will cause significant risks to the downstream, so the accurate calculation ofthe break flow ofthe dam, especially the peak flow, is of great significance to the downstream disaster prevention and relief. This paper introduces the calculation methods of peak flood discharge of landslide dam in detail: 1) Parameter model: Based on historical dam break data, regressiorn analysis or machine learning method is adopted to establish an empirical formula to calculate peak flood discharge of landslide barrier dam. 2) Empirical model: Based on the empirical formula ofhydraulics, the charnge of the burst discharge of landslide barrier dam over time is calculated to obtain the peak discharge during the burst. The parametric model can calculate the peak flow rate ofthe breach easily and quickly, but the establishment depends on the collection of prototype data, and the acouracy of data survey will directly affect the parametric model, which is also a great challern ge to the exploration technology. The empirical model has wide applicability and can get the outburst flood process, but because of the complexity of outburst process, the accuracy of the empirical formula is lower than that of the parametric model.
