Abstract: The west shoal of Lingdingyang estuary is an important sediment channel and trap, and also a natural barrier to protect the deep water channel of Lingdingyang. Based on the monitoring data and numerical simulation results of typical years, this paper analyzes the dynamic characteristics, suspended sediment transport and siltation trend in the west shoal of Lingdingyang estuary in dry season. The results show that the landward side of the west shoal is dominated by ebb tide power, and the seaward side is dominated by flood tide power; In dry season, the west shoal has a two-way trap function, trapping the sediment from land and sea, and the trap function is the largest at the shoal with a depth of 2 meters; The west shoal of Lingdingyang estuary is dominated by advection sediment transport, followed by tidal trap and vertical circulation sediment transport.
