Abstract:

The importance of riparian vegetation populations developing in vegetated water bodies is crucial in Ecohydraulics, especially focusing on the hydrodynamic interplay between plants and water flow at different temporal and   tial scales. Flow resistance modeling can be easily linked to Leaf Area Index (LAI)of riverine and riparian vegetation for almost all plants’ species and under different Ecohydraulic filed-scale conditions, under both vegetational and hydrodynamic conditions (i.e., Ecohydradynamics). In the present study, the predictive performance of LAI obtained through image processing based on 3D-scans and Digital Hemispherical Photograph (DHP), or the first time in literature, were analyzed and discussed. All analyses refer to Buxussempervirens, a riparian species coveringthe largest river in southern Italy, namely Volturno River.
