Abstract: This paper shows numerical simulation results for integrated water resources management in the Kiso river system. The numerical model applied in this study includes a distributed hydrological model (Hydrological river Basin Environment Assessment Model: Hydro-BEAM) for runoff simulation, reservoir operation model for flood control and water supply, and water withdrawal model for drinking and agricultural water use. Furthermore, the influence of an inter basin water transfer by new channel network facility, which is under review is also considered for mitigating extreme drought. The results show the inter basin water transfer facility will shorten the period of drought by at least 1 week. The additional coordinated support from upstream dams will also contribute to mitigate the risk of water shortage of the basin
